Our Mission
Our mission is to empower the Citizens we support to lead more connected, fulfilled lives and make more informed life choices. The rights of the Citizens are of paramount importance to us, therefore their wishes and aspirations will shape and inform service delivery. Our mission is based on the principle of "treating others, the same as one would like to be treated", whilst recognising that all Citizens have the potential to control the services they receive. This encompasses the underlying principle of service delivery by a highly skilled and dedicated staff team.
Stepping Stones is here to encourage individuals to achieve their own personal goals. Helping to promote independence, communication and life skills, activities such as budgeting money, healthy eating and having fun is what makes Stepping Stones a place to grow and make friends along the way.

I have worked as a Qualified Social Worker for 10+ years in various Local Authority Teams including Adult and Community Learning Disability Teams. As a result of the pandemic, we have noticed an increase in citizens with Learning Disabilities/Autism enduring challenges with their mental health. We have also found this has impacted us, on their carers and parents' wellbeing. There is a great demand for services like Stepping Stones which seeks to promote life enhancement Work for citizens.

Although I have a degree in Criminology, increasingly I have been working with citizens with learning disabilities and autism in various “supported living” environments. This has highlighted for me that my true vocation lies in care. My aunt, with whom I have grown up, has Downs Syndrome and this experience, whilst being one of the most fulfilling of my life, has truly given me a privileged and true insight to the personal needs and family requirements of our special people. At “Stepping Stones” we are striving to create an environment with a light hearted atmosphere whereby learning life skills becomes more effective.
